Food Quality & Safety magazine is pleased to announce Endangered Species Chocolate (ESC) and Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Private Limited (HCCBPL), Dasna, as the winners of the 18th annual Food Quality & Safety Award for small company and large company categories, respectively.
Presented by Food Quality & Safety magazine, the prestigious Award honors the dedication and achievement of organizations making significant contributions to uphold the highest food standards supported by quantifiable results. This year, a panel of industry judges concluded both ESC and HCCBPL demonstrated impressive efforts in regard to technology, certifications, training, regulatory compliance, and risk reduction.
Headquartered in Indianapolis, premium chocolate provider ESC was founded in 1993 to spread awareness and make an impact on the growing number of plant and animal species disappearing around the globe. Currently 10 percent of the company’s net profits support conservation of species, habitat, and humanity. The all-natural chocolate products are made from beans purchased from Fairtrade family-owned properties. All bars and treats are named for an animal, and inside each label consumers can read about the plight of these animals. Today, the company offers nearly 30 products to customers.
HCCBPL started in 1997 with the simple aim of making food and beverages for the India of the 21st century. Over two decades later, the company is one of India’s top FMCG businesses. Launched in 1999, HCCBPL in Dasna manufactures a wide variety of quality beverages for the region. These include non-carbonated water-based flavored drinks such as punches and ales, ginger beer and ginger ale, aseptically processed fruit beverages, thermally processed fruit beverages/fruit drinks/ready-to-serve fruit beverages, carbonated water-based flavored drinks, caffeinated beverages, sweetened carbonated beverages, and carbonated water (plain soda). HCCBPL is the first international company to win the Food Quality & Safety Award since the competition expanded its entries to allow companies worldwide to enter in 2015.
