Raisins are an important export commodity for Afghanistan; however, Afghan packers are unable to export to markets seeking high-quality products due to limited knowledge regarding their quality and safety. The minimal analysis and availability of data for Afghan raisin safety and quality levels hinder the ability of Afghan raisin packers to choose which factors they should focus their efforts to improve raisin quality. In this study, the quality and safety aspects of pre-, semi-, and post-processed Afghan raisins were evaluated from multiple production lots in order to partially fill this data gap.
