All of this is possible today, thanks to advances in technology. Internet of Things sensors make data collection far easier and more reliable than with paper or USB-based systems. These systems operate autonomously, are faster, and far more accurate. The data, once collected, can be analyzed and evaluated using cloud-based predictive analytics algorithms and artificial intelligence systems to provide actionable insights that enable proactive decision making. With the rising cost of waste, both in terms of food going into the dumpster and customer dissatisfaction, it’s time to change the way we manage the fresh food supply chain. By doing so, everyone’s bottom-line will increase.
